Since Malaysia was under the British Empire once upon a time, we tend to speak English with the British accent . However , as the years go by, Malaysia of today is using the American accent. How is this possible ? Well , it's simple really . The language made its way into our houses daily through movies, tv shows and even advertisements. Famous movies or better known as Box Office movies hail from the United States such as the Avengers: Endgame . Of course the actors is using the American accent when they act . Little by little our English slowly deviated from the British English.
When we say British English , it is further divided into the Queen's English and the standard British English. Queen's English ( also known as RP short for Received Pronunciation ) is from the Northen part of England where as the standard English is used in the South.
